Is Linda leaving EastEnders? Kellie Bright’s future on BBC soap after Christmas murder

Linda Carter on EastEnders

EastEnders fan favourite Linda Carter has been hiding a big secret from everyone about the fact she murdered Keanu Taylor on Christmas Day, but is Kellie Bright staying on the BBC soap

Linda Carter has had quite the few months on EastEnders, with fans fearing she might be making a swift exit from Walford.

Fans of the BBC soap will remember the iconic Christmas scenes, which saw Linda stab and murder Keanu Taylor with a carving fork. The Six then decided they had to hide the body and pin Nish Panesar’s attack on Keanu, all whilst he lay dead under the concrete of the new café, with the group no doubt fearful the body could be found.

Sharon has run away to Australia, struggling to cope with all that’s going on, whilst the rest of The Six faced Keanu’s mum Karen Taylor when she returned to Walford to find out what happened at Christmas. Denise is clearly struggling, having visions of Keanu and knowing her necklace is buried under the concrete with the body.

Johnny and Linda Carter

Johnny couldn’t believe what Linda had done

Last night, viewers saw Linda hit breaking point when she went into the café and cut her hand on some glass after her son Johnny and Dean Wicks had a fight. Johnny instantly realised something was up due to her reaction and when they got home, he sat her down to quiz her about what happened and she confessed that she had murdered Keanu.

With Johnny now becoming the seventh person to know about the murder, fans are convinced this could spell an exit for Linda as she continues to struggle to cope with the fall out from the events of Christmas Day.

Is Linda leaving EastEnders?

As far as we’re aware at present, there are no plans for Kellie Bright to exit her role on the BBC soap. She has made brief departures from the Square over the year, but has always returned and is now part of this huge Six storyline.

Back in 2022, her on-screen husband Mick Carter – played by Danny Dyer – appeared to die in a heartbreaking Christmas episode, and at the time, Kellie admitted she wasn’t sure what that meant for her character going forward.

“So the meeting came about a month after Danny had left, and I definitely felt a bit like… ‘Oh, I don’t know what I’m going to do now’. And ‘Who do I get to play with’ and ‘I wonder what the future holds for me here’. It was just a strange time and when we had this meeting I literally went, ‘Oh, I’m excited, I am totally in,'” she explained.

“And I really did feel excited about it, it was just so nice to do it all together, honestly these women are beyond brilliant in every way, holding each other up behind the scenes because it has been a lot. I do feel like we’ve really looked after each other.”
