Zainab & Masood to return to EastEnders?

EastEnders fans are convinced fan favourites Zainab and Masood will return to the BBC soap after spotting two major clues.

iewers of BBC EastEnders spotted two hints that Zainab and Masood could be returning to Albert Square soon.

Zainab (Nina Wadia) first arrived in Walford in 2007.

She was at the centre of some hard-hitting storylines, including her struggles to accept son Syed’s sexuality and the return of her abusive first husband Yusef Khan.

But in 2013, Zainab left the Square with her young son Kamil for a new life in Pakistan and has not been seen since.

However, new episodes have indicated a return for Zainab.

Jade Green (Elizabeth Green) gave an update on her grandmother and dropped a bombshell on her father Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo).

Jade is the daughter of Dean and Zainab’s daughter Shabnam after a one-night stand.

Shabnam called Jade and told her that they were moving to Pakistan to be with Zainab, who was unwell.

Although Zainab’s illness was not too serious, Shabnam still wanted to be closer to her and demanded Jade come with her.

But Dean has refused to let his daughter move to Pakistan following her lung transplant.

As a result, Dean has plotted to keep Jade in Walford by emptying her medication needed for a chest infection.

Zainab’s mention could indicate that she may be returning but across the Square, a row between Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) and estranged wife Suki (Balvinder Sopal) hinted at a return for Zainab’s ex-husband Masood (Nitin Ganatra).

Suki confirmed that their landlord Masood is happy to put the lease for the property into her name.

She told Nish: “[Masood] is more than happy to put the whole lease under my name.”

The two mentions sparked an online discussion, with EastEnders fans thinking Zainab and Masood will make a return to the show.

On X, one person wrote: “Jade is in such a hard place. Dean isn’t wrong about her health although it’s coming from selfish reasons.

“Her condition may be worsened going abroad but she misses her mum.

Another said: “The fact we’ve had Zainab AND Masood mentioned by two different families in the latest EastEnders episodes… they’re on their way home I just know it.”

One viewer tweeted: “Mentioning Zainab and Masood’s name this episode made me smile. Bring them back!!! #eastenders @bbceastenders #EastEnders.”
