EastEnders’ Sonia Fowler is desperate to have a baby – but it’s now been claimed she could “take drastic measures” and kidnap a child in Walford in a huge twist
EastEnders could be set to air a surprise baby kidnap storyline involving Sonia Fowler.
The character, played by Natalie Cassidy, has been a regular on the soap since 1993 and is a firm favourite with viewers. And it’s fair to say, she’s played a part in some of the soap’s most memorable storylines.
Over in the soap recently, she struck up a relationship with Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman). The pair are desperate to have a child but have faced several hurdles – including Reiss’ infertility.
Despite a long wait, Sonia and Reiss managed to get IVF though with Sonia currently undergoing treatment. But in EastEnders last week, Sonia was left disheartened after finding out Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) kept her pregnant a secret from her.
Sonia is trying to have a baby at the momentAnd during Wednesday’s episode (March 6) Sonia ended up babysitting Lily Slater’s tot, Charli. As she looked after the tot, it was clear her yearning for a baby was growing stronger.
Now, fans are fearing a baby kidnapping storyline could be on the cards for Sonia. And while some reckon Whitney’s child could end up in Sonia’s hands, others claim it could be Charli the granddaughter of Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner).
Over on a Digital Spy EastEnders forum, one follower mused: “Sonia is obsessed she will end up kidnapping a baby.” Someone else replied: “I thought this too.” While on an EastEnders Facebook fan page, another follower wrote: “Hope they’re not changing her character … but I feel like she will take a baby soon maybe Lily’s?”
AI also claimed that Sonia kidnapping baby Charli would be a “major twist.” Daily Star has quizzed one of the world’s most popular artificially intelligent “creative” tools, Gemini, to see if Sonia could end up kidnapping a baby.
The program responded that a reason it could happen is “Sonia’s desperation for a child.” It explained: “Her struggles with IVF and her longing for a baby are well-established. Her desperation could cloud her judgment, leading her to take drastic measures.”
Bard AI also noted: “The writers might be deliberately building tension by highlighting Sonia’s emotional state and her connection with Charli. This could culminate in a shocking kidnapping.”
