EastEnders spoilers: Lauren Branning consumed by heartbreak after discovery about Peter Beale

Peter and Lauren sit at the table at No.45 in EastEnders

Lauren Branning and Peter Beale (Jacqueline Jossa and Thomas Law) have had a rocky relationship over the years in EastEnders, but ultimately decided to go their separate ways after they both returned to Albert Square.

The pair split up when Lauren visited Peter in France last year, and learnt that Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) was still alive.

Though they had previously discussed giving things a proper go, Lauren was horrified that Peter had kept such a huge secret from her and decided that she could no longer trust him.

When Lauren moved back to Walford in January, the pair talked about trying again with their relationship, but ultimately decided that they weren’t the right fit, much to Peter’s disappointment.

Since then, they have remained single, though Lauren recently had to dodge a drunken kiss from best friend Whitney Dean’s (Shona McGarty) boyfriend Zack Hudson (James Farrar).

However, in upcoming scenes, Lauren is left heartbroken when she realises that Peter has moved on.

When cousin Penny Branning (Kitty Castledine) tries to persuade Lauren to have a 30th birthday celebration, she isn’t too keen on the idea.

She is especially put off when she learns that Peter won’t be free, as he is going on a date.

Because of this, Lauren is left feeling downbeat about her upcoming birthday, so Penny decides to try cheering her up.

Taking matters into her own hands, Penny sets up a dating profile for Lauren so that she can make Peter jealous, but will it be a success?

Have Lauren and Peter really moved on from each other?
