Emma Barton is a firm-favourite on EastEnders playing Honey Mitchell – but away from the soap she is smitten with her famous beau and has opened up about their relationship
EastEnders favourite Emma Barton has opened up about her “lovely” famous beau.
The actress, 46, shot to fame playing Honey Mitchell on the BBC One soap. Emma made her debut in 2005, and quickly became a firm-favourite with viewers.
Despite leaving in 2008, she made her return in 2014. And it’s fair to say she’s been involved in several big storylines – from her marriage to Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) and her battle with bulimia.
Away from the soap though, Emma has navigated personal hurdles too. After joining EastEnders, she went through a divorce from her lawyer husband, Nigel Stoat.
But Emma soon found love again with Jason Perry, former frontman of British rock band A. The pair are said to have struck up a relationship in late 2022.
Emma and Jason reportedly met on the members only dating app Raya. A pal at the time told The Sun: “The couple are smitten with each other and are very sweet to be around.”
And in a recent interview, Emma opened up about her relationship with Jason. She told the Mirror: “I’m very happy.”
Emma went on: “I have a lovely boyfriend in Jason and I’m in a very happy place right now. I’m looking forward to our future together.”
Music producer Jason is known for being in the band A, which enjoyed success in the ‘90s and early 2000s. Their hit Starbucks bagged a spot in the UK top 20 in 2002, with their song Nothing also hitting the top 10 that year.
Prior to Emma’s romance with Jason, she was married to Nigel Stout. However, it sadly ended in a painful divorce, with the actress going through proceedings as she joined the cast of EastEnders in 2005.
Alongside her husband of three years, she was said to be “devastated” by the split, with a source telling People at the time: “Both are devastated their marriage didn’t work out. Ultimately it was Emma who decided they couldn’t go on. It hasn’t been easy on either of them.”
Emma has previously dated former EastEnders co-star Joel Beckett, who played Jake Moon. She also had a relationship with Stephen Mulhern for three years. Meanwhile Jason was said to have been married to a woman called Holly – who he married in 2000. The former couple share four children.
