George Knight (Colin Salmon) has sparked concern among his family after repeatedly returning home with unexplained injuries, but recent EastEnders scenes revealed the brutal truth behind how he got them.
George has been struggling in the wake of learning that his adopted dad Eddie (Christopher Fairbank) murdered his biological father, and has been sneaking off in the middle of the night, much to his family’s horror.
In recent scenes, daughter Anna Knight (Molly Rainford) expressed her concerns when George appeared to be suffering with pain in his ribs.
George was quick to brush it off, before receiving a phone call and hurrying away, leaving Anna more worried than ever.
Later, George was joined by adopted mother Gloria (Elizabeth Counsell), and it became clear just what the phone call had been about.
It turned out that Gloria had informed the prosecution that George had witnessed his dad’s murder and that Eddie was guilty.
Viewers will know that Eddie is standing trial for the racially motivated murder, and he and Gloria had spent weeks trying to convince George to stand as his character witness.
George couldn’t understand Gloria’s sudden change of heart, but she revealed that she had spoken to Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins), who had encouraged her not to stand blindly beside her husband.
With Gloria seemingly on side, George opened up about his feelings surrounding his birth parents and his father’s murder.
Gloria was quick to offer her support, though she later left George devastated when he overheard her on the phone to Eddie.
Realising that she wasn’t prepared to totally abandon her husband, even after everything he’d done, George asked her to leave, pointing out that if Eddie was still in her life then he couldn’t be.
Following Gloria’s exit, George headed to an underground boxing club, where it became clear that he had been releasing his emotions through fighting.
