Confused by the result on the stick in her hand, she told him: “I’m taking my pill on time – I think.”

Looking happy, Jay replied: “Are you sure these things are 100 per cent accurate? So you’re actually pregnant.”

But she replied: “I love Lexi and she’s the best thing that ever happened to me – but I never thought about having another baby.”

And judging by the look on her face, she didn’t exactly look overjoyed at the news.

Fans were stunned, with one tweeting: “Loving the thought of a #Jola baby but I don’t think Lola is is she?”

Another wrote: “Jay wants the baby Lola doesn’t.”

The bombshell has been teased for days, with EastEnders explaining that Lola is about to drop a big revelation on her boyfriend.

And in coming episodes, Jay will have to square the news with grieving Ben, to avoid any conflict with Lola.

EastEnders spoilers: Whitney Dean’s world destroyed by Reiss Colwell as shocking consequences follow

Whitney looking devastated in EastEnders

Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) is hiding a huge secret in EastEnders, but her whole world is about to come crashing down when Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) puts his foot in it in upcoming scenes.

Since returning from Milton Keynes with Britney Wainwright (Lola Campbell) in tow, Whitney has been hiding the fact that she paid Britney’s mum to be able to take her in.

This has already thrown up issues for Whitney, who has had to find a way of enrolling her in school and registering her with a GP, without letting on that she isn’t actually her legal guardian.

With Britney having been diagnosed with Usher Syndrome, Whitney is determined to do everything she can to ensure that Britney gets the support she needs – including meeting with Wahida, a mum whose son also has Usher Syndrome.

Following the conversation, Whitney meets with Britney’s teacher to discuss her diagnosis, but things take a worrying turn when Reiss lets slip that Whitney isn’t Britney’s mum.

Oblivious Whitney is later stunned when she receives a visit from social services, who have arrived to take Britney away until they can corroborate Whitney’s version of events with Keeley Wainwright (Kirsty J Curtis).

Whitney is left completely devastated as she, Zack Hudson (James Farrar) and Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) race to track Keeley down.

They finally get her to meet them at Walford East, but they are far from out of the woods when Bianca picks a fight and begins criticising Keeley’s parenting, leading her to retaliate by suggesting that Britney may be better off elsewhere.

Has Whitney lost Britney for good, and could she be set to face serious consequences for her actions ahead of her exit from the show?
