Actor Martin Compston has revealed he’d like EastEnders star Danny Dyer to appear in Line of Duty, if it was to ever return.

Martin starred alongside Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar in the BBC drama from 2012-2021.

The star played the role of DI Steve Arnott in the hugely successful show, which focused on gangs, bent coppers and trying to work out who H is (no spoilers here!).

After the storyline gripped the nation, fans were devastated when the final episode aired a few years ago, and are constantly curious as to whether it could return in the future.

Discussing the prospect of reuniting with the cast, Martin recently revealed how he’d love to work alongside Danny Dyer on the show too.

‘Danny Dyer would be a great shout [as a bent copper]. Danny is something else, honestly, he is one of our treasures. He is a wonderful actor — it would be good to see him in there’, Martin told the Mirror.

Sadly though, Martin then confirmed there are no ‘immediate plans’ to see the AC-12 members anytime soon.Sadly though, Martin then confirmed there are no ‘immediate plans’ to see the AC-12 members anytime soon.

‘I’m sorry. They’re some of my closest friends, we all love Jed [Mercurio, the creator], and we’d all love to work together at some point, but there are no immediate plans.

He added: ‘It’s just getting us all together and stuff. We’d like to but, yeah, these things are a bit complicated. But there are no immediate plans.’

Danny Dyer played the role of Mick Carter in EastEnders from 2013-2022.

The beloved character was swept out to sea during a showdown with Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) and Linda Carter (Kellie Bright).

Due to the freezing temperatures and Mick’s lack of swimming skills, the Carter family are under the impression he more than likely died after being swept out to sea.
