Finola Hughes on Losing Her Home on GENERAL HOSPITAL

Anna wasn’t the only one shocked when her house was torched on GENERAL HOSPITAL — portrayer Finola Hughes was also taken aback by the storyline twist!

“It was rough!” she admitted in a recent issue of Soap Opera Digest. “It was brutal. We shot it late on a Friday night and it was pretty cool. I mean, it was really well done. The people that do this stuff, our special effects people, they do a really great job.”

However, the actress admitted that watching Anna’s home burn to the ground was like watching her own home turn to ash. “It’s so silly, but you do get sort of a sentimental attachment to [your character’s home] because it’s where you do your work and it’s kind of your set. For the longest time, Anna lived in the Metro Court and didn’t have her own set, and there’s a sort of sense of pride you take in it. It was like, ‘Yeah, I got a set!’ And then it gets destroyed!”

Thankfully, Hughes was able to save one part of the set from being lost in the inferno. “I asked for the Union Jack photograph that was on Anna’s table not to be destroyed and I keep it in my dressing room,” the Brit confided
