Inside the Moment Kody Brown Declared Himself and Robyn ‘a Common Enemy’ for His Sister Wives

Janelle previously opened up about her bond with Christine and told PEOPLE she’d have likely stayed married to Kody if it wasn’t for Christine

From Kody Brown’s perspective, Janelle Brown and Christine Brown see him as public enemy no. 1.

On Sunday’s episode of Sister Wives, the Brown family patriarch reacted to his former wives Janelle and Christine forming a close bond over their respective issues in their plural marriage.

As the duo headed off on a hike with Christine’s brothers, Kody, 54, confessed he wasn’t a fan of their new dynamic.

“It’s interesting that Christine and Janelle have a newfound relationship because I think it was more antagonistic before,” he said in a conversation with cameras. “I wish it wasn’t so, but it seems to me that they are united in a common enemy against me and Robyn [Brown] because they’ve got nothing good to say about us.”

Three of Kody’s marriages imploded within a span of 14 months. Christine, 51, was the first to leave in November 2021. A year later in December 2022, it was revealed that he had separated from Janelle, 54. A month after that, his departure from his first wife Meri Brown was confirmed in January after the pair’s relationship had been platonic and distant for years.

Robyn, 45, is Kody’s only remaining wife.

In a recent joint conversation with PEOPLE alongside Christine, Janelle opened up about the connection she and her children share with Christine. She also confessed she might have remained in their plural marriage had Christine not split from Kody.

“It was heartbreaking for me when Christine left because all of a sudden the family was this whole different identity, and Christine had always been a big part of what I perceived was the family identity,” she explained.

“My children gravitate towards her. They always say to me, ‘Mom, wherever Christine is, we want to be for the holidays.’ Or whatever,” she added. “So that was taking away a big part — or a big heart — of the family for us.”

Janelle continued, sharing that she stayed in the marriage for more than a year following Christine’s split because of her devotion to the family. “I still felt like I should be loyal to the family that was remaining just out of obligation,” she explained.

Addressing Christine directly, the TLC star admitted: “I think maybe if you hadn’t have left, I might’ve stuck it out … because you are the heart. You were a lot of the heart of the family for my kids.”

“Well, I still am, for you,” Christine replied, to which Janelle gushed. “I know. Isn’t that the great thing though? Now we have it all.”
