Sister Wives: Why Christine Brown Sold Coyote Pass Land For $10 To Kody & Robyn Revealed!
Christine Brown made headlines over the summer when she sold off the undeveloped property she purchased with her ex, Kody Brown, for a rock-bottom price. Outlets reported theories about the transaction—but a recent episode of Sister Wives told the whole story.
Christine, who announced her split from Kody in November 2021, sold her section of the family land, Coyote Pass, for $10, to her ex and his one legal wife, Robyn Brown. The 4.48 acres, located in Flagstaff, AZ, were originally jointly owned by Christine, Kody, and Robyn. The property was paid for in full and valued at $300k, in 2018.
The document stated, per a report by Us Weekly — “For the consideration of Ten Dollars, and other valuable consideration, I or we, Kody Winn Brown and Robyn Alice Brown, husband and wife and Christine R. Brown, a single woman do/does hereby convey to Kody Winn Brown and Robyn Alice Brown, husband and wife the following real property situated in Coconino County, Arizona.”
Lots of fans assumed that Christine was pulling strings from behind the scenes, in order to keep details about the real financial transaction hush-hush.
A Starcasm report explained that a legal maneuver called “Nominal Consideration” could have been utilized for the deal. The practice allows a person to give an amount in name only, usually $10, in order to privatize the real sale price.
Christine sold her Flagstaff home in October 2021 for $700k, one month before publicly dropping her breakup bomb. The show is slated to cover the TLC mom’s final exit, in an upcoming episode.
The couple’s split has been unfolding on the show as Christine prepares to move to Utah with her youngest child, Truely, 12. Kody and Christine have run into logistical hurdles, including a debate over who would pocket the proceeds from the sale of Christine’s house.
Christine proposed a common sense solution on Sunday’s episode of Sister Wives.
“I assume that what we’re doing is splitting all of our assets, the house, the land, everything that we’ve got. 50/50,” Kody told cameras. “Which is funny, ’cause she’s already sold off some of the stuff that was ours.”
Kody expressed a desire to pay off Coyote Pass with the equity cash, which would enable his second wife, Janelle, to begin building on the land.
“Christine‘s walking away with her money from this house in this deal,” he noted. “She’ll be able to buy another house. Janelle can’t do anything on Coyote Pass until we pay it off.”
Christine proposed a simpler solution, suggesting that she keep the proceeds from the sale of her house and sign over ownership of her Coyote Pass plot to the Browns.
“If you split everything 50/50, that means I get 50 percent of everything that he has — all of his property,” Christine told cameras. “That means his and Robyn [Brown’s] house, too, if he wants to go down that road and split it that way. That doesn’t make any sense.”
“Let’s just make it clean and easy — I get the house, you can have the property,” Christine stated.
Kody ultimately agreed to the deal, which was sealed in August. Janelle also cosigned the financially equitable proposal, during Sunday’s episode.
