Did Sister Wives star Kody Brown’s incestuous ties inspire Seeking Sister Wife? There is a connection that he had to someone who appeared on the show a few times. Did Kody Brown’s Incestuous Ties Inspire Seeking Sister Wife?

Before Kody Brown’s world fell apart and he lost three out of four of his wives, he was a major advocate for plural marriage. It appeared that he was properly dividing his love and his time though that shifted as the show progressed. Aside from his wives and his family, he occasionally would show his friends, some of whom were also in polygamy. One of the friends was Jeff Alldredge and if the name rings a bell, it should. He and his wives, Sharis and Vanessa were on Seasons 1 and 2 of Seeking Sister Wife.

However, he was initially featured on Sister Wives and was even at Robyn and Kody’s wedding. They were very close friends and Seeking Sister Wife did not come out until 2018, eight years after Sister Wives. Now, a Reddit thread was started after fans spotted Jeff in an episode from Season 3. The OP wrote this:

Jeff is not just friends with Kody but one of his wives, Vanessa has a brother, Mitch. He gets married to Kody’s daughter, Aspyn in Season 13 which aired in 2018, the same year SSW premiered. So, what did followers think?

• How is it that all these people are related? I dont think Aspyn wants to live plural marriage, but around her marriage to Mitch, he kinda hinted that he wasnt opposed to it. Its in one of the episodes before their marriage.
• You can also see Jeff, Vanessa, and his first wife (now ex) in Kody and Robyn’s wedding episode.

They Saw It

So, it appears that Sister Wives fans had seen Jeff Alldredge and Kody Brown’s friendship early on. They also acknowledged how it felt as if everyone was somehow related. Could their friendship have helped to launch Seeking Sister Wife? If not, did it at least help Jeff get cast on the show since he was both Kody’s friend and family to Aspyn? Anything is possible but it is interesting that he had been lingering in the background for years before making his way to the forefront. Sadly, he got married again and that ended in failure so maybe he will pop up for a visit with Kody again.
